RATES & POLICIES

Extended Health Benefits

Coverage for Counselling Services varies based on particular extended benefits plans.  Please confirm with your provider regarding coverage for sessions with Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). We will issue a receipt for our services that you may submit to your extended health benefits provider for reimbursement. For some individuals, fees that are not covered may be tax deductible as a medical expense.

If your plan does not cover RCCs, you may choose to contact your employer or insurance company directly to request a small change to the plan’s coverage. This change does not have financial impact on your employer, and it may increase the benefits payable to you by your extended health plan. Please contact us if you would appreciate some assistance in structuring this request/letter.

Student Health Benefits

Most of the local college and university student health plans will cover $300 to $500 per year towards counselling sessions. For details, visit the Student Care Website, select the school that you attend, and click on the health tab.

EFAP/EAP

Check the details of your particular program. Some Employee and Family Assistance Programs (EFAP) and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) will refer you to their own counsellors, while other programs will allow you to select your own counsellor and to simply submit receipts to them for reimbursement.

ICBC and WCB

We provide Trauma Informed Counselling for people who have been in an accident and have an open claim with ICBC or WCB, or for people who are working with a lawyer as a result of an accident. If you have been in an accident, you are likely eligible for Part 7 Psychological Support Funding for counselling around the anxiety and/or post traumatic stress related with your accident.

Crime Victim Assistance Program

Some of our therapists are Approved Counsellors for the Crime Victim Assistance Program through the B.C. Ministry of Justice. If you are the victim, immediate family member, or witness to a crime that has caused physical or emotional injury, your entire counselling fee may be covered by this program. Visit Victim Services for application and details.

Payment

Individual Counselling: $135-150/session (plus GST)

Relationship Counselling: $145-175/session (plus GST)

Group Counselling: Contact us to discuss as rates vary

Please check out Our Team  to view the rates of each therapist.

At The Grounding Stone, we do a portion of our therapy work on a sliding scale for individuals facing financial barriers.

Cancellation Policy

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice (48 hours notice preferred) for cancellation of a counselling session. If this notice is not given, or if the appointment is missed, the full fee of the session will be invoiced. Please notify your counsellor of your cancellation by email or text message. This policy is in place as there is a high demand for appointments. If you are unable to make your appointment and provide appropriate notice, the opportunity may be available for another client to come in for a session at that time.

Confidentiality Policy

We are committed to client confidentiality as a part of our ethical practice, and we take efforts to ensure that all client information is kept secure and confidential. However, there may be times when we are required by law to release information. These times are:
  • When a minor is at risk of abuse or immediate harm
  • When a client is in severe and imminent danger of harming themselves or others
  • In a medical emergency
  • When subpoenaed by a court of law
  • At all other times, client information will only be released with the written consent of the client.
