Emma Ellison is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Her practice focuses on self-awareness and expression, trauma resolution, and personal growth. She draws from a holistic, relational, and depth-oriented approach to explore the unconscious feelings, beliefs, dynamics, and patterns that influence our lives and relationships.

Rather than problems to be fixed or solved, I view life’s challenges and our inner and outer conflicts as catalysts for introspection, learning, healing, and growth. In this process, counselling can offer a safe and therapeutic environment in which to rediscover and reclaim essential parts of ourselves, and to explore, experiment, and expand into new realms of possibility. While not always easy or comfortable, this courageous work can help reveal our most integrated, inspired, and resilient selves.

I support clients to explore the conditions and life history that shape their perspectives and experiences in order to gain deeper awareness and fresh understanding of their present-day realities. I work with individuals and people in relationships who are seeking to:

  • Examine their own beliefs, assumptions, and unconscious patterns
  • Identify and explore underlying personal and relational dynamics
  • Process unresolved experiences influencing present-day interactions
  • Discover new insight around feelings, needs, and boundaries
  • Foster emotional self-awareness, regulation, and expression
  • Cultivate empathy and compassion for self and others

As a relationship and family therapist, I support people experiencing various forms of connection, conflict, and change. I specialize in supporting people who want to improve their understanding of each other, enhance their emotional connection, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. I work with clients in one-on-one and joint sessions to develop personal and relational dynamics that encourage:

  • Self-awareness and emotional responsibility
  • Safety in vulnerability and authentic connection
  • Individuality and reciprocity
  • Conscious communication
  • Lifelong learning, evolution, and growth

My practice is welcoming of individuals, relationships, and families of all backgrounds. I bring a range of experience working with dynamics involving family of origin, adult attachment patterns, monogamy and non-monogamy, identity, sexuality, autism, and ADHD.

My clients are often people who see value in developing their capacity to experience:

  • An embodied connection with Self
  • A range of emotions and perspectives on life
  • Cooperative relationships involving mutualism and teamwork
  • Continuously evolving ideas and approaches for living
  • Freedom of thought and speech

I typically offer weekday sessions during hours between 9:30am and 5:30pm.

I am an Approved Counsellor for the Crime Victim Assistance Program through the B.C. Ministry of Justice.
